I'm not saying don't buy PCars2 and honestly I'd say buy them both, buy all the sims from rFactor2 to Automobilista, and go download RaceRoomRacing Experience and anything else that appeals to you. The dream packs offer tons of extra content for the relative cost at a high quality. Also DLC was just on sale for like 75% off or something.

Since there's no direct sequel to it anywhere on the horizon its going to live on and of course mod content will provide excellent longevity even without buying DLC.

The thing about sims is they don't age out as fast as most games do unless there's an upgrade path like with PCars1 to PCars2. ago On PC, Assetto Corsa blows away PC2 in the content department because of the mod support. It does look better it definitely sounds better but Assetto Corsa is still a fantastic and relevant sim. Assetto Corsa Competizione is not a replacement and is the newest title from the same developer offering a parallel experience. Its not even a fair argument to begin with as that observation is an exaggeration and I would only assume its based on someone who thinks newest graphics are must have.ĪC is not going to die any time soon. Should be ignored as they're utterly irrelevant. Statements like "but the environments are a bit lifeless and the game is starting to show its age" but that's probably going off topic.Īnyways I think they're both worthwhile games to have in your library. So then you end up thinking, if I'm primarily interested in online then why wouldn't I sell my soul to iRacing. My biggest gripe with AC is that if you're not sifting through the thousands of servers to find somewhere to race online - then it's largely a hotlap simulator (albeit a damn good one). PC2's AI can be insane but I think its far better than AC's AI that just form a rolling roadblock and follow each other around a pre-determined line at a predetermined speed. It boggles my mind that AC's AI gets a free pass whenever PC2's AI is brought up. Although playing on outdated game engines is something you get used to in this hobby. and the variety afforded by dynamic weather and day/night cycles is second to none.ĪC is a slick simulator with ridiculous mod support - heck even the core launcher for the game can be changed - but the environments are a bit lifeless and the game is starting to show its age.
